Carlos Moreira
Founder and Chairman of the Board, Wisekey
Mr. Moreira, originally a former United Nations expert in IT telecommunications, Security and Information Networks. He has been responsible for research, development, implementation, analyses and negotiations related to technology and e-commerce for the United Nations and specialized agencies. He has focused in particular on the relationship between information technologies, telecommunications, and international trade networks.
As World Technology Head of the United Nations Trade Point Program, he was responsible for the development of the world's largest Internet Network of Sites and Secure hubs for E-commerce (GTPNet).
Carlos Moreira was born in Spain in 1958 and is a Swiss national. He has over 20 years experience working with information systems for large multinationals, consulting groups, international organizations and the United Nations.
In 1999 after leaving the UN, he founded WISeKey and started a new phase of his career by combining the experiences from the International Organizations years to private sector activities. WISeKey SA is now a world recognized e-security company securing the Internet to ensure global electronic transactions.
After his MBA, Carlos received an honorary PHD from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, were he has appointed as Adjunct Professor of the Graduate School of Engineering from 1995 to 1998. Mr. Moreira is also the Secretary General of the International Organization for Secure Electronic Transactions (OISTE), which is a not for profit foundation governed by the Swiss Civil Code.
