Sheikh Waleed bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim Chairman and CEOMBC Group
When MBC broke the mold in September 1991 to become the first broadcaster to create a free-to-air, 24-hour private satellite television network across the Arab world, it was due to a group of visionary businessmen and shareholders, led by Chairman and CEO, Sheikh Waleed bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim.
Today, Al Ibrahim is the first commercially successful television mogul in the Middle East, and MBC Group stands tall as the largest media and entertainment group in the Middle East. Born and raised in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al Ibrahim completed his higher education in the United States before returning to the Middle East to begin his groundbreaking career in the world of media.
Among many other accolades received in recognition of his achievements, Al Ibrahim was awarded the Arab Media Luminary Award in November 2006. He is a man who envisions great things for the broadcast industry in the region; he knows his own abilities and chooses professionals to create a winning team. He is a true visionary and leader who spends his spare time studying viewer statistics, global TV trends, and determining content and direction for his channels.
Innovative and forward-looking, Al Ibrahim has significant plans for MBC Group. Not only has he changed the face of Arab television, he is now spearheading the broadcast media’s expansion onto new platforms – on-line, on mobile, even in print with the recent launch of mbc’s first magazine – “Haya mbc”.
